If you’re new to scraplifting, here’s a definition by SuzyQ herself:

‘Scraplifting is when you borrow some or all of an already-created layout to inspire your own layout. It can be a close copy, like using their layout as a sketch or template, or it may simply be the idea or theme of the layout that you mimic. If you layout is inspired by another layout, it’s good to make a note of that in the comments in the gallery. A simple “Inspired by LAYOUT NAME by LAYOUT ARTIST” is usually sufficient. A link back to the original layout is always nice. ‘

This month we’re pointing the spotlight at Lenka a.k.a lenushenka!

I asked Lenka a few questions so we could get to know her a little more as a digital scrapbooker.

Why do you scrapbook?
I started digi scrapbooking in January 2011 soon after my son was born. The main reason is because I want to have a memory of my son growing up. In addition to this, scrapbooking helps me rest & relax while being creative!

What’s your favorite part of being on Suzy’s creative team?
I really love Suzy and her work…How disciplined and creative she is! I admire her for challenging all the CT members to create such wonderful things! I also like all the ladies from Suzy´s team – their layouts are always so inspiring!

Lenka burst onto the Scrap Orchard forums in a whirlwind of fabulous & gorgeous pages. I remember after seeing just a few of her pages I thought to myself “Who the heck is this super talented scrapper?!?”. I kept seeing such great things posted to her gallery, and when she became a QT I was so glad to have her on our team. She is always so sweet and helpful! If you haven’t browsed her gallery you should go right now…and while you’re there pick a page to scraplift! Here are a few of my favorites. They’re all linked back to the gallery if you’d like the full credits. This month I completed FOUR digi scrap layouts! I have to admit, a quick page and some paper stackers really helped me jump-start my layouts and scrap quickly.

I’ve had a few pages from 2008 that I wanted to redo before printing, so I decided to focus on those this month. Here’s what I created!

I didn’t do much to change this paper stacker. Just added a photo, popped a splatter and an element behind, stuck another couple elements on top, journaled a bit on the side, and used the paper strip on the stacker to mark the date. I think this layout took less than 10 minutes.

Another simple layout, though honestly I spent a bit more time on this one adding elements and then taking them away, trying to decide how to best scrapbook the page. Eventually I just added the strips behind the photos, secured the pictures with a bit of stitching, and added a title with the alpha from the kit. The rest is the stacker.

I did a bit more to modify this free quick page (which is still available for about a week on my fan page). My picture wasn’t big enough for the photo spot (older camera back in ’08, lol) so I made the entire quick page smaller and just added a couple more background papers. I stuck on a couple more elements, created a title from the alpha in the kit, and journaled a bit. But again, a quick layout, less than 1/2 an hour.

Finally, I played a bit with this month’s mega at Scrap Orchard, A Fresh Start. I started with one of the stackers, then added my pics. I applied a sepia tone to the photos — the colors all clashed as the pics were taken on different days, and just black-and-white seemed too harsh for the layout. Then I repeated the splatter behind and the stitching & photo tabs on top of each picture. I topped it off with a title built from the elements and an alpha in the kit.

We’re matching up two of my own SuzyQ Scraps favorites this month! The digital scrabpooking kits Heart Attack and Lil’ Princess are a great combination. Unique in their own ways, but so complementary to each other that you can make tons of totally different pages. Heart Attack would be great all by itself for the upcoming Valentine’s Day celebrations, but the Lil’ Princess adds a bit of bling with it’s glittered elements, and a touch of child-like whimsy with the bear and butterfly! If you don’t have them in your stash – you should! You’re missing out on the best of the best from Suzy!
