And now onto the freebie! I created this desktop for you using SuzyQ’s kit Space Monkeys. This was my first chance to work with this kit, and it’s just too darn cute. It was a tough choice to decide between using the monkeys or the space aliens. In the end, the monkey’s won out! As usual we have a variety of sizes, and haven’t forgotten our MAC using fans! The coordinating calendar is also included, so that you can add it if you like that option. I considered also including an iPhone sized wallpaper. Would that be something anyone is interested in? To all of my fans, thank you SO much for your prayers, positive thoughts, and sweet words of encouragement. They are greatly appreciated. I am happy to report that we are officially home and my little boy is almost back to normal. Thank you again!

Father’s Day Traditions

So, since it’s Father’s Day I thought we could chat about traditions for Father’s Day. I don’t remember any specific traditions we followed each year for my own dad. As a kid, I remember we use to try to come up with nice things to do for our dad … like creating coupon books (which was the inspiration for the Love Ya! Coupon Book in my store, which you can snag for 25% off today) or making him breakfast in bed. As I got older and started earning some money, I’d buy something for him. One year it was a “world’s greatest dad” mug … another year it was a “world’s greatest fisherman” hat. Then I started just buying him fishing lures. And now I typically just call him, because I have a husband to spoil.

This year I bought my husband a new wallet. But I was thinking, wouldn’t it be fun to do something each year, just for Father’s Day, and start a new tradition? I just barely had that thought this afternoon, so I’m running out of time to start the tradition this year. I’d love to hear what you do in your families to make the dads in your lives feel special.

Sorry the blog has been quiet a few days without explanation. My little boy is in the hospital and my online life has been put mostly on hold for a bit. No worries, he’s doing better and we’ll be home soon. But there may not be any blog posts for another few days.

Now to the hiding question. I looked through the comments here on the blog and you all have been unusually quiet for this month’s challenge. I know around here the month of May gets really hectic around our house and maybe that’s what is going on in your life too. Sometimes I think I need a keeper just to make sure I’m not forgetting to do something that is really important. So here’s a reminder to get cracking on a layout for this month’s challenge. Remember, there’s a $10 gift certificate from SuzyQ Scraps waiting to be claimed by one of you!

Here’s a recap of what the full challenge is:

* Scrap a layout about an obsession — TV show, clothing item, collection, etc. — anything you’re obsessed with.
* Show us your obsession — use one picture prominently, or use several smaller pictures.
* Use whatever colors fit your obsession.
* What digi scrap supply are you obsessed with? Use a lot of it on your layout, or make it a prominent feature.

Prefer hybrid? Here’s the hybrid twist on the challenge:
Freedom of choice! Create any hybrid project that either shows or holds your obsession — like maybe a hybrid box to hold your coin collection, or a wooden cube with different red papers adhered to each side to show off your obsession with the color red. Be creative!

Here are some samples of LuAnn’s obsession that’s a perfect example of hybrid for this challenge.

You don’t have to use SuzyQ Scraps‘ designs, but she loves it when you do! Upload your layout to your favorite gallery or other photo site and then link us up in the comments. This challenge runs all month long, so you still have half of the month left. Link us up by May 31 at 11:59 pm Eastern to your layout or hybrid project. We took the site down on Monday so we could move to a new host. We were partway through our move when our soon-to-be ex-host shut down all their servers.
