To Save a Buck!

January 17th, 2010 Melissa 3 comments

Hey digiworld! How is everyone doing? I hope everyone is great! I just wanted to share a little bit information on one of my other passions! I love scrapbooking, who doesn’t? But my other joy is saving money for my family! The way that I have figured out how to do that is by taking advantage of sales and coupons! I’m sure there are tons of you out there doing this! And some may want to get involved but you really aren’t sure where to start. Well, then I have some really great news for you. I’m gonna help in giving you some awesome resources!

First off is my favorite web site for couponing. She compiles a list of coupons to print or clip out of the newspaper and then matches them up with sales! She is amazing! Her website is Hip2save.com. She even has a list of freebies! Who doesn’t love freebies?!? I know I do!

I wanted to share one of the deals with you. It happens to be with Artscow and is pretty sweet! Right now if you become a fan of Artscow on Facebook you can get a free personalized photo watch with free shipping after you get 3 friends to become fans too! Free photo watch?!? Count me in!

Another of my favorites is Myfrugaladventures.com. She is great at posting some amazing deals too!

If you are associated with the military then you need to check out Hip2serve.com She compiles a list of freebies for the military and also gives a list of Commissary and PX deals! How amazing is that?!?

I hope that if you are interested in couponing that you might learn something by checking out these sites. I know there are tons more sites out there, but these are the ones that I’ve found that I really enjoy! With the way the economy is, who can’t help but save a few bucks? Thanks for letting me ramble about one of my other passions!

Christmas Recipes

December 6th, 2009 Melissa 4 comments

Happy Monday to everyone!!! Sorry this is being posted today! Life got the better of me!! LOL You ever have one of those days when you think about something all day long, but never remember to do it? It happens to me alot! LOL. Anyways, today I thought we would talk about some recipes, Christmas ones to be exact! At this time of year I love baking!!! I don’t know what happens, but its like as soon as December hits that means its time to start baking until the new year! LOL

This got me thinking. What kind of traditions do you have at this time of year? Do you bake with your children? Do you remember baking with your mom when you were younger? And what is your favorite food that brings the “Christmas” Spirit to you? For me, it is the smell of snickerdoodles!!! I love those cookies and to me they are so easy to bake! I’m in the middle of baking now since I have 7 dozen cookies to bake and package up before Friday!!! I know crazy right? Well, we are shipping homemade cookies to our soldiers who are in Afghanistan!

Alright now to the recipe! :)

Snickerdoodles
2 3/4 Cup Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 Cup Butter Softened
1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 1/2 Cup Sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

Cinnamon Mixture-
1/4 cup sugar
1tsp Cinnamon

Preheat oven at 375 degrees. In a small bowl Stir Flour, baking soday and baking powder Set Aside.
In a Large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
In a seperate bowl combine the sugar and cinnamon
Shape the dough into 1 inch balls rolls them through the cinnamon mixture and place onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 11-12 minutes.

Thats it! These are so yummy!!! Now I’m off to make some! LOL Have a good day everyone!!!
