Who Is dolbydawgs? (Freebie Alert)

April 12th, 2010 Kate 13 comments

Kate here with a QT spotlight…..Melissa!!!

Melissa answered some questions for me…..
1. Your screen name? dolbydawgs
2. Are you married/have children/pets? I’ve been married for 12 years. I’ve got three dogs (Brutus, Chico and Frances) and three kids (Julian 4, Adrian 2 and Jesenia 2 1/2 months).
3. Where is home for you? Fountain, CO
4. Snacks…Salty or Sweet? Depends on my mood.
5. Beverage of choice? Dr. Pepper
6. PC or Mac? PC but I’d like a Mac
7. How long have you been digi-scrapping? 1 year!
8. How did you get in to digi-scrapping? I remember doing some searches online and picking up freebies. Then I came across DST and I applied for a few CT’s and the rest is history. ;-)
9. What is your favorite Suzy Q Scraps kit? That a hard decision. For an older kit I have to say Desire. Before I came on board as a QT Suzy RAK’d me with that kit. For a newer kit, I’d have to say Indulge Me. I love the colors!
10. What is the most challenging part of scrapbooking for you? Finding the time. With a new little one some of the time I used to have is taken up by her. But, at least with digi scrapping I can do it almost anywhere since I have all my stuff on my laptop.
11. What are your favorite movies/TV shows? CSI, Medium, Project Runway, Scooby-doo (oops, that’s Julian’s favorite, but I wind up watching it all the time!)
12. What is something unique about you? A lot of people think my eyes are brown since I have brown hair and you can’t quite see them with my glasses on, but they are blue and green around the outside.

Look at these great LO Melissa created using SuzyQ Scraps digi products!

SuzyQ took this Too Cute to Spook LO and created this template freebie for you!!! (Click image to download)

Egg Fighting

April 4th, 2010 Kate 1 comment

First off, HAPPY EASTER!!! I love Easter!!!

heather LOniki LO
Layouts by Heather and Niki, using Bunny Imposters and Bunny Imposters {The Add-On}

I love the traditions I have for Easter. Growing up, we used to travel about 20 minutes to a little place called Little Mountain. Really it was little. We enjoyed a little picnic. We would roll hard-boiled eggs down the hill to see who got their egg the furthest. Then came the best part–Egg Fight!!! We would launch the hard-boiled eggs at each other.

Since then, we’ve changed our traditions a little. Now we start the weekend off with the traditional egg hunt or “Candy Hunt” at the park. Then the grandkids all go to Grandma’s house for a little picnic, egg dying, and Grandma’s hunt. Later in the afternoon, my uncle brings out rockets. We run through the hay fields and down the ditch banks searching for the rockets after they’ve been launched. Then we repair, repair, repair!!! Then shoot them again. We now include the kiddos all making their own paper rockets too. It’s been a tradition everyone loves. Including all the adults!!

Sunday brings the Easter Bunny Egg Hunt, church, then back to Grandma’s house for our Easter cookout. This includes more relatives and lots of laughter. I love the Easter weekend and the traditions we have. We would love to hear about your Easter traditions, so please leave us a comment. Happy Easter everyone!!!

Who’s Lucky?

March 21st, 2010 Kate 2 comments

Whenever I enter a contest, I ask myself “Why do I do this?” I’ve always thought I am probably the most unlucky person there is. I never win anything. However, does that make me “unlucky?” I don’t think so. While going through the gallery and being the month of March, I’ve realized I am probably one of the most luckiest gals in the world!! I realized this while looking at some gorgeous layouts this month using SuzyQ Scraps’ Seredipity kit, that being lucky doesn’t meaning winning things. It means you’re lucky to have things in your life. For instance your family, a job, a home. You get the idea. So I’m going to show you some “Lucky” pages and I want you to think about what you have lucky in your life!!!

Hope everyone had a GREAT Valentine’s Day. I sure did. This is Kate will another edition of SuzyQ Spotlight!!! This month, I wanted to get to know Keyr!!!

She answered some questions for me!
1. Your screen name? keyr
2. Are you married/have children/pets? Oh yes… been married to DH, Arun for 3 years and we have a two yr old son, abhi. He is the one you see on all my layouts!
3. Where is home for you? Being with family is home to me. And right now that is nearly 25,000 miles away.
4. Snacks…Salty or Sweet? Sweet !!
5. Beverage of choice? I’m not that much of a ‘beverage’ drinker, but when I really need that dose of refreshment, its got to be coffee, white.
6. PC or Mac? It’s always been a PC.
7. How long have you been digi-scrapping? Close to 3 years now.
8. How did you get in to digi-scrapping? After coming to the States, on my first visit to Michaels, to get some oil paints, I fell in love with this ‘scrapbooking’ section. I came home and googled about it. (seriously…I had no idea, then !! ). After many pages and many hours, I came across the digital version. And I immediately felt this one was for me. And I never looked back.
9. What is your favorite Suzy Q Scraps kit? Oooo… the birthday collection: ‘And Many More…’ ! It’s such a fun kit and the idea of having 3 shades of the same kit is a brilliant idea.
10. Do you have any other hobbies besides digi-scrapping (are there other hobbies)? hmm… I used to glass paint. I still have those paints. I just need to find some time and a safe place, away from my 2 yr old.
11. What is the most challenging part of scrapbooking for you? Journaling. Its always been a challenge and it still is. So of lately, I’m forcing myself to write more in my layouts.
12. What are your favorite movies/TV shows? I loooove CSI (vegas, miami and NY ) and HOUSE !! And I also try to follow Idol. No favorite movies, but ‘The Sound of Music’ remains my most watched movie of all time.
13. What is something unique about you? I won’t call it unique, but I really get excited for all the smaller and finer things in life. For me those moments are all that really matter.

Here are some of my favorite layouts Keyr has created.

Thanks for letting us get to know you Keyr!!!

A Conversation Must Have

February 7th, 2010 Kate 12 comments

In just a week from now, is a special holiday of love!!! In honor of Valentine’s Day, I have a special, EASY treat for you. This recipe I found years ago and we only make it at our house for Valentine’s Day. It is so fun to take to teachers too. It’s “Conversation Heart Fudge.”

First you need these ingredients:

Your favorite milk chocolate chips (or semi-sweet), white chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, salt and conversation hearts or nonpareils.

Take a 6″ square pan and line with either aluminum foil or my favorite, parchment paper.

Mix together 1 1/4 cups of milk chocolate chips, 1/2 c. of sweetened condensed milk, and a dash of salt. In a separate bowl, do the same 1 1/4 c. white chocolate chips, 1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk and a dash of salt.

Heat the milk chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Stir until smooth, usually 1 minute. Pour into prepared pan. Now melt the white chocolate chips and cook for 20 second intervals. White chocolate scorches easily so I even half my power but not necessary. Pour on top of the milk chocolate layer.

While it is still warm, sprinkle your nonpareils on it or make rows with the conversation hearts. Notice here, I did both.

You will be thinking, how much does this make? It is a small pan but you can get tons of little pieces of fudge. Pop in the refrigerator for two hours.

Take it out and cut it according to your heart rows.

Doesn’t this look yummy? Now it is up to you about presentation. My favorite is shown here from Family Fun Magazine.

Unfortunately today, the family ate it all!!! Enjoy! Download this recipe card to store in your recipe box. It was made using Love Monsters by SuzyQ Scraps.
Happy Early Valentine’s Day!

The Pioneer Woman Inspiration

January 24th, 2010 Kate 4 comments

I am sure that many of you like to read blogs. I’m sure you’ve even been to the blog I’m going to mention. “THE PIONEER WOMAN“. Really, need I say more?

I will admit, it’s been awhile since I have visited her blog. However, once you are there, you will be there awhile. She has so many things to offer there and especially give inspiration. She has a whole section on photography. Great tutorials. Great actions!!

Another confession…….I probably spend more time on the cooking section!! I love to sit and watch her step by step explain and describe her recipes. I will say, I step back and think “Wow, the colors of that photo or the crispness.” I know lame but it really is amazing.

So take a minute and get some inspiration from her blog today. Might be a dessert or it might inspire a layout, but relax and let the Pioneer Woman take you away!

Just a reminder, don’t forget to pick up One Love at Scrap Orchard.
