Today, we’re getting to know another member of SuzyQ Scrap’s QTs!  (Don’t miss the free template AND challenge below!)

Meet Susan …

1. Your screen name? IvoryKeys

2. Are you married/have children/pets? I have been married to my wonderful DH for 15 years (in just a few days). We have 3 children (2 girls, 1 boy) and 3 cats

3. Where is home for you? Texas

4. Snacks…Salty or Sweet? Mostly sweet but I really like mixing sweet and salty together.

5. Beverage of choice? Vanilla Coke or Water

6. PC or Mac? PC

7. How long have you been digi-scrapping? A little over a year and a 1/2.

8. How did you get in to digi-scrapping? I had always been interested in making layouts with photos and kept telling myself that I would do it someday when my children were older. As I was looking for some backgrounds to use in a screen saver I was making for my mom I stumbled upon some digital scrapbooking blogs, then a blog train, then some scrapping forums. I knew immediately that this was the creative outlet I had been looking for to show off all the digital photos I’d been taking for years!

9. What is your favorite Suzy Q Scraps kit? Each time SuzyQ makes a new kit it’s a new favorite so picking one is hard. Out of her most recent kits I love the colors and elements in Heart to Heart.

10. What is the most challenging part of scrapbooking for you? Getting started. It seems that when I want to scrap there are a lot of distractions and by the time there is quiet in my house (generally after the kids have gone to bed) I’m so tired that it takes a while to get started. Once I do the layouts tend to just fall into place.

11. What are your favorite movies/TV shows? I’m a NCIS fan!

12. What is something unique about you? I don’t see myself as unique…just me. I am who I am through the grace of God. Well, maybe this, I have rhythm (after all I’m an elementary music specialist) but I can’t dance at all. I’m super clumsy. Any of you who have known me long probably know about my “accident” in the fall where I fell while demonstrating how to go up the climbing wall part of the inflatable obstacle course for our students. Perfect example of my clumsiness. Why I thought that was a good idea is beyond me.

Hybrid scrapping is making itself known in the digital scrapbooking world!  For those who aren’t familiar with hybrid scrapping, it’s just that, hybrid.  It’s combining the digital & traditional scrapping to make something-a page, a card, a box, etc.  SuzyQ Scraps has a fabulous hybrid team!  These girls have amazing talents & go above & beyond with the projects they’re able to create.  I’ve been itching to make some type of hybrid & these QTs give me a whole lot of inspiration.  Take a look…

Hello SuzyQ Scraps fans!  Hope everyone’s enjoying the weekend!  In the States, it’s a holiday weekend.  Memorial Day is usually the weekend when summer “officially” starts.  School’s out, or close to being out, pools are open, campgrounds open, grills turned on, etc…it’s a big weekend!  Memorial Day is also the day when we remember & give recognition to those who serve our country.  Parades are held & cemeteries are filled with beautiful flowers.

I’ve been lucky to have been surrounded by family growing up.  Every Memorial Day weekend, we’d meet up at my grandparents house & then travel to all the different cemeteries where our loved ones were laid to rest.  My twin sister & I would volunteer to be the “flower girls”.  We’d hold the flowers & then place them next to the headstones.  It was something I looked forward to every year.  Afterwards, we’d head back to my grandparents house & have a big family BBQ!  I still remember those weekends like they were yesterday.

Now that I’m married, our family traditions have changed slightly but we still look forward to this weekend.  What are some of your traditions for Memorial Day?  What are your plans?  Whatever they are, remember to scrap them!  SuzyQ Scraps has some great kits to go along with whatever you’re planning on doing.  Here’s a few I found while looking through her store.  Headed to the park?  Here’s “Going Green”, a collab with Amanda Heimann.

Maybe you’re going on a road trip?  We used to drive 5 hours to visit my mom’s family.  The long trips make for some great car pictures!  “Vroom Zoom Chugga Choo” could help you scrap them.

I’m enjoying this weekend being with my family!  Hope you have a great weekend as well & I can’t wait to see SuzyQ Scrap’s gallery filled with all the weekend events.

When I’m creating a layout, I always save the title & journaling for last.  I try to think about what would make a cute, catchy title throughout the creating process.  I still struggle with titles.  I do love to journal though!  I know there’s plenty who struggle with finding the right words to use.

One thing I’ve found to really help me out, is to use songs!  It could be the title of a song, a line or two, or the whole song.
