November Scrap Mix Challenge

Hey everyone! I’m back with this month’s digital scrapbooking “Scrap Mix” challenge. Play along, and you could win a $10 GC to SuzyQ Scraps new store at Scrap Orchard. Who wouldn’t want that, right? And it just so happens that we have a winner from last month! So Tammy (aka MSGHD) email Suzy at suzyqscraps AT gmail DOT com to claim your prize. Check out Tammy’s LO! Fabulous, right? I love that she scrapped about her fave foods! (image is linked if you want to go leave some love!)

Now it’s your turn to win $10 to SuzyQ’s store! This is how it works. I will give you the instructions, you create your LO, then come back to THIS POST, leave a comment linking us to your layout. You have until November 30, 11:59 PM EST to complete this challenge.

Instructions

There are 4 categories: Main color, main element, number of photos, and inspiration. Since this month we celebrate Thanksgiving here in the US, lets create our LOs to show what we’re thankful for!

To figure out what your main color should be, take the day you were born, add up the digits until you have a single digit. For example, if I was born on the 29th day, I would do this: 2+9=11, then 1+1=2. My main color is green. I was actually born on the 2nd day, so green should be the main color on my LO.

To determine what the main element should be on your page, take the number of the month you were born. I was born in the 7th month, so I need to use swirls! If you were born in the 10, 11, or 12 month, you add the digits until you get a single digit (ex. the 11th month would be 1+1=2, so you would use buttons.) You can use other elements, but your main element should be the one that is your month.

To find out how many pictures your LO should have (the same picture duplicated is okay!), you add the digits of the year you were born. Example: 1986, 1+9+8+6=24, 2+4=6, my LO should have two pictures. No more, no less!

Category 4 is your age and will determine what you should use as your inspiration. This month in addition to scrapping about what you’re thankful for, you are also going to scraplift one of the QTs. They all have awesome galleries, so this should be fun. Take your age, add it until you get a single digit, and you’ve got your inspiration. I am 23, so 2+3=5. I get to scraplift my4boys!

You can use your birthday, or your child’s or whoever’s birthday you want to use. Just have fun and be creative!!!

Here are your categories:

Here are links to the QTs galleries for you to use for your scraplifts:
Susan aka IvoryKeys
Mel aka KSCroppyChick
Melissa aka dolbydawgs
Ellie aka Ellie80
Christine aka my4boys
Meghann aka scrapmonster
Amanda aka Manderin Oranges
Athena aka digilicious
Leila aka Leila

Here is my LO. I scraplifted this LO by my4boys called You 2 Color My World. (using the birthday 7/2/1986)

Post the link to your LO as a comment so we can see your creations. Any questions, please ask! One lucky winner will receive a $10 GC to SuzyQ’s store. You have until November 30, 11:59 EST to do this challenge. Looking forward to seeing your creations!

AND, don’t forget to read the post SuzyQ herself made before this one for more opportunities to win GCs to her store!!

This is my first challenge, and I just have a question. What exactly is a scraplift? Does this mean we can only use elements or papers from that particular designer? I just want to make sure I understand before I start designing. Thanks!

    Hey Meg,

Scraplifting is: The act of copying ideas and designs from another person’s scrapbook page to use in your own pages. Designs or ideas can be copied in whole or in part and is largely subjective. (yes I had to look it up, because I wasn’t sure how to explain it!) lol. Does that make sense? Pretty much you find a LO from the galleries above that you like then ‘copy’ the ideas of that page and make it your own. I will be posting a sample of my scraplift to give you a better idea! Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions!

Bre, thank you so much, that really helps! So we can basically use any elements or papers we’d like, just as long as we copy a layout from the designer designated by the challenge. Got it!

    Thanks again!
