Double the Fun – 2 Page Layouts

I’ve gotten so far behind on my 2012 album and now I’m playing catch up. I’ve been having a lot of fun with it and have been cranking out the layouts. Having my photos in order and ready to go has helped tremendously with that! One thing is for sure – once I get going, I can’t stop and it helps that I love 2 page layouts!!! I want to share a few of them with you and hopefully give you a few tips and helpful hints for your pages.

Double page 1

I sometimes struggle with double layouts that have nothing in common like the ones above. To help these two layouts come together I used the same kit for both but then I grabbed a few school themed elements for the homework page. As you can see, just a few did the trick and both pages go together nicely.

Double page 2

Here’s the easiest trick in the book and one of my favorites. Use a template and flip it! As you can see, I simply flipped the layout on the right horizontally and moved everything down a little bit. And of course, both pages don’t have to be exactly the same. I think it flows nicely by keeping the title on one page and the journaling on the other.

Double page 3

Here’s another quick and easy idea. The layout on the right is a quickpage freebie that I downloaded here on Suzy’s blog. The layout on the left came together very quickly because I used a lot of the same techniques and ideas from the quickpage but as you can see, I made it very different. I’m a bit of a quickpage junkie and use this trick a lot! (Look closely – yes, that’s Suzy and some of us QT’s in Vegas earlier this year in the layout on the right.)

Double page 4

And here’s the final 2 page layout I’d like to share with you. I get a little overwhelmed when I have a lot of photos to put on one page so I try and keep it simple. There’s so much going on in these photos that I didn’t want to over-do it. I did a simple, yet large title going across both pages and only a few little clusters around the journaling cards. The hearts with stitching that you see are pre-made and included in the kit so they were a nice and easy addition to the layout. I finished it off by adding a simple white stroke around each photo. These 2 pages took no time at all!

So don’t be afraid of those 2 page layouts. Usually the ones that I end up loving the most are the ones that came together quickly and easily. I hope you’re able to take a few of these tips an use them for your next 2 page layout. Once you get going you won’t want to stop. I’d love to hear any of your tips or helpful hints so feel free to leave us a comment. Happy scrapping!
