SuzyQ Scrap-Along | February 2012

Even with an extra day this month, February is still short, so I decided to play with templates to help me complete a few digital scrapbook layouts.

I thought the colors from the So Sweet mini kit were perfect for these pics from 2008. I really wanted to play with the fun swirls from the kit on this layout, so I used a template from Fuss Free: Artisana Set 1 by Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs to help me with the placement. I liked the circle scatters provided with the template, so I just clipped a paper to them. The pink chunky alpha comes from Laugh the Rainbow Alphas {Warm}, which I recolored slightly to match the kit.

Everything for this layout comes from the February 2012 mega at Scrap Orchard, 10 Things I Love, including the template created by Scrapping with Liz. I swapped the paper strips in the template for the journaling strips included with the kit. The element place holders in the template provided the perfect base for all the elements I layered on the digital scrapbook page. I deleted the photo in the original template, and clipped my photo to the mat instead. I added a stroke to the photo to “frame” it and tucked a frame behind the picture. And I used some word art from the kit to create the title.

I created this layout for a January prompt in the Project: Love, Me 2012 class. (I know, I’m a bit late with that one — but better late than never!) I planned to use the quote as my journaling, so this template from In Orbit by Little Green Frog Designs was the perfect choice. I didn’t deviate too much from the template, since it was exactly the look I was going for. Because the colors in my photo clashed with the kit & add-on I wanted to scrap with, I changed the picture to black and white. I added the green flower on top of the pic to complete a visual triangle with the green ladybugs.

I knew I was going to do a lot of journaling for my February layout for the Project: Love, Me 2012 class, and that I also wanted to incorporate a quote as well, so I went searching for a template that had more than one journaling spot and fell in love with this one from My Words Only Vol. 5 by Captivated Visions. The template colors even helped with choosing my papers — I clipped a blue paper to the blue journal spot, a green one to the green, a yellow one to the orange, a gray one to the gray. I mixed in several patterned papers for most of the other paper bits to add more movement to the layout. I modified the paper bit for the date to use as a title spot instead. To make the clipped papers look more realistic, I tilted them to match the angle of the shapes in the template. It takes just a few seconds and adds that look of realism. I used the small journal spot for the quote, & used a basic font (Century Gothic). I chose a journaling font for my words. The three separate spaces left for journaling helped me to organize my thoughts.

Thanks for letting me share my layouts with you! I’d love to see what you created this month, so link me up in the comments.

    Hello,

I just saw a video on ebay an I was curious to know what kind of paper was used for the transferable paper on the piece of clothe that was used. I want to know the paper I can use to print on clothing.

    Thank you for the info.

I’m not sure I’ll be very helpful. All of the above layouts are digital scrapbook layouts, so I didn’t transfer any paper to cloth. I’m not sure what video you saw on e-bay. :(
