It’s time for another digital scrapbooking challenge here on SuzyQ’s blog! Each month we feature a QT from Suzy’s Creative Team and challenge you to scraplift one of the QT’s layouts from their gallery at Scrap Orchard.
If you’re new to scraplifting, here’s a definition by SuzyQ herself:
‘Scraplifting is when you borrow some or all of an already-created layout to inspire your own layout. It can be a close copy, like using their layout as a sketch or template, or it may simply be the idea or theme of the layout that you mimic. If you layout is inspired by another layout, it’s good to make a note of that in the comments in the gallery. A simple “Inspired by LAYOUT NAME by LAYOUT ARTIST” is usually sufficient. A link back to the original layout is always nice. ‘
This month we’re pointing the spotlight at Mel a.k.a. KSCroppyChick!

I asked Mel a few questions so we could get to know her a little more as a digital scrapbooker.
Why do you scrapbook?
Short answer, because I always have. I started keeping scrapbooks when I was 7, I never really stopped. These days I have more reasons; a creative release, a way to show off photos, and because I enjoy creating something that people actually want to look at. But my number one reason is my family. I have always loved looking a my parents photo albums and remembering events, the people that were there, and the things we saw. I want my kids to have the same opportunity, only the photo albums are a little prettier.
What’s your favorite part of being on Suzy’s creative team?
Her designs are a given reason because they are fabulous; but I love that Suzy is hands on with her team, she challenges her team and her fans to create great things. She is a wonderful person and the other members of the team are too. I love working with a group of people that are as supportive and hardworking as the girls on this team!
Mel is such a fabulous scrapper and an asset to the team! I’ve browsed her entire gallery, and selected a few of my favorite layouts below. They’re all linked back to the gallery if you’d like the full credits. You can choose to scraplift one of them, or take a look through her gallery and pick a different one.
Here’s a freebie template inspired by one of Mel’s layouts. You can also use this template to create your challenge entry layout! Download the 12×12 version here or the rectangle 8.5×11 version here.
