I’ve had a habit the last few years of choosing a word as my focus for the year. I was introduced to this idea by Ali Edwards. My word last year was balance. The year before that I chose sunshine.
Looking back on my word ‘balance’ … I can’t say that I’m a 100% balanced person, but I am much more aware of my priorities, and how my choices are influenced by as well as affected by my choices. I feel like I’ve found greater balance in many areas of my life, and I’m grateful for the progress I’ve made and how that’s changed my life. 
This year I picked connect — I want to focus on connecting to myself, connecting to God, connecting to my husband, connecting to my son, connecting to my soon-to-be-born child (due in June), connecting to extended family, connecting to friends, connecting to customers & fans … I think you get the idea.
I feel like sometimes I am so busy living life that I forget to live … that I forget to enjoy the journey … that I forget to be aware of others … that I forget to be in the moment. I’m hoping by focusing on connecting that I’ll be able to tap back into my own reality. 
What is your focus for 2012? Why did you choose that word or theme as your focus?
Oh connect is a good word! I want to pick a word but I just can’t think of one.. I am so terrible! It’s hard to pick a focus in a year that I know is going to be so hugely different for me – I am due to have my first child (he’s due this month) so it’s a giant change and milestone in my life! Congratulations on your pregnancy also =)

I’ve decided on Harmony. I want to live more harmoniously in the world – bring more peace to my mind and my daily life. Can’t wait to see where it takes me. Great choice on connect – what a good where giving the new addition to the family.

This is my first year to chose a word so I signed up for the prompts and am choosing love as my word. I know it sounds cliche, but I am confident that I have a lot to learn about love. How to accept love, love God, love myself and love others. I am excited to see where love takes me this year!

Love your word. This is my third year choosing a word and my third year assigning the students in my English classes to do the same. It’s a project that has inspired me every year at the start of the new semester, and it gives me something to look forward to at the end of the break.
My word for this year is “heart.”

I also thought this was a fab idea and I posted on my blog today my word. I chose the word ENERGY. This is so I can inject some in everything that I do as I tend to be a bit lazy and scatterbrained. Thanks so much for posting this great idea again this year! God bless your and your family in 2012!
