Unzipping Digital Scrapbook Files Quickly

I used to dread opening my Downloads folder and looking at all the digital scrapbook downloads that I needed to unzip, one at a time. Then I was introduced to an awesome (and FREE) little program called ExtractNow. Now I can unzip all those beautiful digital scrapbook kits (especially after a big sale, like Digital Scrapbook Day sales coming up in November) in just seconds and get on with the fun part — scrapbooking!

Watch this video tutorial to see just how easy it is to use ExtractNow — and how FAST those files get unzipped.

Keep smiling!

So true !! ExtractNow rocks !! The only thing I am missing is for it to extract 7zip files (and I think it was a zipx file that I struggled with a while back).

OMG! Best tip ever!!! (Well, you have a lot of great tips, so I probably should be careful about making that statement – LOL!) But that is going to save me sooooo much time. I’m surprised that this program hasn’t come up in some blog before now. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I’m going to go do some unzipping now :)

WOW!!! LOVE this! THanKs so much for passing on this info, Suzy. You are truly one of the best Designers/Teachers out there in DigiScrapCyberLand and I’m so thankful I found you. (Only wish I could have come to the ScrapExpo in September- I live in SLC- but I was unable. Perhaps Las Vegas, or somewhere…)
    THANKS again! you ROCK

Utilities like this work great….except if you download a zipped set of files that a designer has not first placed into a folder before zipping. They you have files exploding everywhere. This doesn’t happen often, but if you had several zipped folders that unzipped in this way, you might have trouble rounding them all up into their proper folders.

So…thanks to all designers who DO place their products in a folder before zipping. And thanks for the info on this utility…I use WinRAR will allows for multiple extractions and it works in a similar way.

OMG! That’s a complement for my JDownloader, thanks Suzy, it’s great tip. And take mine if you or the girls didn’t know. I can dl anything specially the bigger sizes zips with JDownloader without open pages of 4share, Mediafire, etc., also extract the zips.

Thanks for your tutorial. I have used extractnow for over a year now. But I do have questions if I’m using the settings portion to my full advantage. Can you give us some help with what you use in your settings? Thanks.

I’ve never adjusted the settings, so I’m just using whatever the default settings are. :) It’s worked well enough for my needs, I haven’t really delved into the program deeper to see all the possibilities.

The only thing I’d add is to make sure you unzip right away and make sure the zip works and it has the files it should. No fun if there’s an issue and it’s too late to do anything about it!
