super cute sneak. my little one loves to find kleenex and shred them to pieces quietly. She once managed to make a pretty large stack of the shreded kleenex before I noticed!
Well, it’s something I did when I was 11-12 (early 80′s). Granted, it was not funny to my parents at the time but now we laugh about it every year around the holidays.
I had always – I mean ALWAYS wanted a Sit-n-Spin but my parents never would get one and by the time I was 11-12, I was pretty much too old, right?
So one night, while my parents were out with my younger brothers at a cubscout thing, I was home alone (which in itself was a rarity) and I was bored and watching TV…a commercial came on about SitnSpin. I decided to make one.
So I took my mother’s solid OAK lazy susan (which was a LARGE one) and proceeded to have fun. Yes, I spun and Yes, it held. I should have stopped at once but decided to keep going as it was so much FUN!
Well, it broke, cracked right down the middle and a million little ballbearings went EVERYWHERE. I cleaned up and hid the broken lazy susan back in the back of the cabinet.
My parents and brothers came home and first thing my mother does is step on a ballbearing that had hidden itself in the entry rug. OH MY GOSH. My mother was furious and my father was trying not to laugh.
Worst part is I lied about it…..I got in MORE trouble for LYING about it than the actual act itself.
So every holiday we giggle about it when my brings out her poor SMALLISH lazy susan now. Just recently my nephew got a real sit n spin from none other than my parents. Such is life.
Great sneak peak!

I don’t have kids of my own yet, but I do have one from my own childhood. My mom wanted to put me in kindergarten early (weird birthday timing), so she took me to be interviewed by the school. She managed to convince them that I was mature enough to start, so we were good to go.
But after that, she took me and my sister to a fast food restaurant for dinner. Lo and behold, the teachers from the school happened to be there enjoying a quick bite to eat. And guess who happened to have a screaming meltdown in McDonald’s in front of the teachers who had just been convinced she was mature enough to start school? Yep, me. My mother was mortified. Fortunately, the kindergarten thing worked out and I was behaved through that, but my mom still teases me sometimes about that lovely first impression.
Where to start?
I think the funniest thing now that wasn’t so funny then was when the kiddo first became obsessed with water—be it puddles, a small pool, or the bathroom sink.
When we first moved here, we had stuff everywhere. No real clue where to put things since we moved from a small apartment. So we had a fish tank (20 gallon) in the back bedroom on one of those cheap dressers from KMart/WalMart. I was on the phone interviewing for a new job and I walked in the room to find him, in his footed pajamas, standing IN the fish tank. He had lifted the front feeding lid on the light and just stepped right in. Luckily there was just one fish in there (who went on to live another 2 years—died at a ripe old age of
AND that little incident helped me get the job (it was for a parenting & pregnancy site, lol!).
Love this kit, btw! My son is king of the grumps. I can see using this sooooo many times.
How cute! My DD is 4, so some of our incidents are too fresh to bring a smile to my face LOL. A couple of years ago, I caught her getting into the litter box……YUCK….sort of funny and gross at the same time.
A few months ago my 3 yr old daughter wanted to paint her nails. I told her we would when I got out of the shower. While I was in the shower she decided to try it herself. She painter her nails, her fingers, her face and even managed to get some in her mouth! It was hard not to laugh as I told her that it is not ok to do that!
When my daughter was 3 yrs old…. she sat on the floor in the livingroom watching cartoons with her brothers who were 9 and 7. During the ten minutes I was in the laundry room my DD managed to cut-off almost all of her hair from the right side of her head. It took months to grow it back out. I was mad and upset but still grabbed the camera and took pics. Its easy to laugh about now…. not so much then!
i can already see lots of layouts with this kit…going on my wish-list for sure!
my child’s only 14 months but this past month has been filled with lots of “no-no’s”….she ate a makeup sponge, dumped out all the instant rice, has figured out her crib & knows what to do to get out but usually gets stuck (lol which is better for me) oh & she colored all over the door at church!! seriously, who’s child colors the door at church? mine
we were even with her but our primary class was acting up (that’s a COMPLETE other story for another day) & she got left alone so she decided to make the door all pretty with bright red/pink crayon….i felt bad about taking a picture while in church so sadly, no pictures of that event!
With 2 boys, I will need this kit!
One day, someone left the door to the laundry room open. One of my sons crawled in and found some navy blue Ritz dye. Of course, he didn’t get it opened until he crawled back onto the carpet. What a mess! Blue powder everywhere. Luckily his clothes were navy blue. I was able to wash him off, but was worried how much he swallowed. The beige carpet was what I was mad about. I vacuumed up as much as I could because adding water would dye the carpet. Then, what to do? I did try to dilute the dye and vacuum it as fast as I could, but of course the carpet was stained. I couldn’t ruin it anymore, so I decided to bleach it and if needed dilute some acrylic paint and recolor the carpet. The bleach worked great. Yes, the was a slight discoloration that I could see, but no one else noticed until I showed it to them.
Now that it is over and fixed, I wish I had taken some pictures.
When my daughter was about 3 she used to stay up kind of late with me and we would watch The Johhny Carson show. Well at the same time she had some imaginary friends. One day while she was outside playing and was called in for dinner- she opened the door and kept it open. When I asked her what she was doing she said she was letting her friends in. And this is what she said here is dumpty dumpty, my three ducks and heressssss Johnny….I could not stop laughing and then quickly realized maybe we needed to go to bed a bit earlier….
Just posted on my facebook page….
I had left my lil toddler boy happily painting with watercolors on the kitchen floor (on paper just using the floor instead of the table) — can’t remember whether the phone rang or whether I had to use the bathroom but was only out of the room for about 30 seconds, come back — his hair is spiky from being wet with the paint water and his face and arms/pj’s are covered in lovely brushstokes — I have a great paper scrap page of this, will have to try and scan the pic in and play with it digitally it is one of my faves
